Pumpkin Carving and Halloween

Sorry about the 2 week lapse in posts. I am having trouble uploading the pictures using my slow computer. I have finally figured out the fastest way is to use the computer at work, you think that is what they had in mind when they hired me?

The first two pics are of our Disney foam mask. (I got them on clearance, it is amazing what you kind find roaming the internet in the middle of the night). Andy, Jilli and I walked into the living room, where Drew was, with them on and acted like nothing was going on. The look on his face was hilarious. Then he wanted to wear Mickey, and starting picking his nose or flashing a gang sign, I am not sure which. The look on Jillian's face is so funny, she has got to wonder what in the world kind of family she has become a part of.

It is time to carve our pumpkins we picked out at the pumpkin patch. Dad is in charge of cutting the tops off and Drew and I were the gutters. He wasn't so sure about sticking his hand in the guts at first, but it didn't take long. He liked putting his bare feet in the pile of pumpkin guts. What a mess we were making. It was straight to the bath after that. While cleaning out the pumpkins Drew decided to give one a taste and who am I to keep him from broadening his taste horizon. He only tried it once :) The end product was 4 jack-o-lanterns, one scary face, Winnie the Pooh, a ghost and a moon and bat. Drew Halloween vocabulary was pretty cute. He knows ghost and what it says, "BOO" and a vampire and what he says, "AH AH AH" also knows bats and of course pumpkin.

Halloween morning, time for gifts. Spoiled I know. Jillian got her "First Pumpkin" , which was filled with little stuffed Halloween noise makers just her size. She favored the rattling spider. She also got a ghost rattle. Drew got a bear dressed as a ghost that made scary noises, a pumpkin flash light and some skull and cross bones whistles. Nothing say Happy Halloween to a not quite two year old, like skull and cross bones. I think the flashlight was the big hit of the day. Drew and Nana played in the closet and bathroom with the flashlight all day and Drew was also amused by his glowing shirt. If you asked him what was on his shirt he would say "bone". What a party smants, that is smarty pants in the Roberts household.

Time to Trick or Treat. Drew was a cow, Jillian was a sweat pea pod and I was a farm girl. Andy went as broke first year law student. JK! Drew didn't really get the whole concept. He did exactly what we practiced, he said "knock knock" on the door and then "trick or treat." The problem was that the trick or treat was before the people answered their door. So when they opened the door he just stood there like a cow in the head lights. Then he would dart into their houses and up their stairs or into their living rooms and at one house he helped himself to a girl's pitch fork. So I got to see the inside of 3 houses in the neighborhood. Then he would throw a fit when I would try to take him out of the nice peoples' houses. At one house he dumped his candy bucket on their floor. We have nice neighbors because no one seemed irritated. Maybe next year he will have a better grasp on the whole Halloween thing. At one neighbors house they had a little spook house in the garage. The man was dressed up like Dracula and their was a smoke and little path to walk through with scary noises and hanging appendages. Drew seem unaffected by the "scary" stuff. The man was afraid that he would scare Drew because he was dresses as Dracula, but Drew liked him. He looked at him and said "AH AH AH", you know a vampire. What a brave little man.

Trick or Treating wore out our little pea pod.

So I have to say that I am ridiculous. I have been shopping for toys for Drew's birthday and Christmas. This weekend Andy was doing his honey do's around the house and Drew was following him and trying to steal his tools. So I pulled out one of his gifts, a little tool set, and gave it to him. He played with his tools all weekend. Every time Andy would use his screwdriver, Drew would go and get his screwdriver. Just like daddy, isn't that the cutest. It looks like Drew may be an aspiring plumber, nice crack kid!
