Grab a Kleenex

Here are our pictures from Jenny Wheat. I cried when I saw the slideshow. And yes, those are real peacocks in the picture. Drew thought they were pretty cool. It was a little damp, windy, cloudy and chilly that morning. Jillian had a dress on and bare legs and feet, so we carried a blanket around and kept her bundled between pics. Then we would set her down on cold places and she would still smile (atleast for most of them). What a trooper. I hope you love them as much as we do.

A litte update and a funny Drew story.

  • Both of Jillian's top teeth have finally broke through. I am sure that she is probably most happy about that.
  • Jillian is walking behind her Easter toy and just about anything that will slide along.
  • Tuesday we had family pictures with Jenny Wheat and I will post them when the slideshow is ready.
  • Okay a funny Drew story - he was jibber jabbering and all that I caught was the word bad. I asked him "What is bad buddy?" He paused and said "I know .... You." I started smiling and trying to contain my laughter and then he kept stearnly saying "That's not bunny!" Over and over. I hate to tell him, that IS bunny.

It is finaly here - SPRING!!!

Saturday after a day of family haircuts (excluding the bean) we went home and grilled and enjoyed the warm weather. We put Jillian in the pack and play, but that didn't last very long, she wanted part of the yard action. Little man and his freshly trimmed hair taking a breather. When Drew got his hair cut, the lady bribed him with a cookie. A short bread girl scout cookie with chocolate on the bottom. He took one bite and realized it had chocolate. So he tried to eat just the chocolate off the bottom, which gave him the most hilarious messy face. If only I had my camera then. All the stylist got a good chuckle from him. After his hair cut I told Drew to tell the lady thank you, so he said "thank you lady." He did just what I asked, what can I say. After haircuts (we were at the Legends), we had pretzels and played at the fountain. Drew had a blast and Jillian was entertained. Again a camera would have been nice. Drew is such a copy cat, unfortunately that copying applies to inappropriateness also. Kids were taking coins out of the fountain and spraying each other and I had to tell Drew those kids were being rude and that was no no's. Where were the 20 kids' parents, who just lets their kids play unsupervised by a fountain? Apparently the majority.
This was Jillian's first experience with grass. I tried to stand her on it at first and she kept pulling her feet up. She didn't seem to mind sitting on the grass.

This less than stellar picture took about 10 minutes of convincing Drew to sit by his sister and the moment was short lived. This is the only one of them together.
Here is Jillian, before her mini melt down. Isn't she the cutest little girl?

Getting Ready for Bath Time.

Here are pictures of the two munchkins getting ready for bath time. That is one excited little girl.
This picture is my favorite. Synchronized splashing, I think it is should be a new Olympic sport.

Is this illegal?

So the kids and I went to Nana and Papa's for the weekend, while dad stayed home and finished his paper. We went to Aunt Georgia's 90th birthday party and had fun with Brett, Anne, Payton & McKenzie. Payton and McKenzie were awesome. I couldn't of handled Drew and Jillian in that crowd by myself. Thanks girls. The only pictures I managed to take that weekend were two pictures of a bottomless pianist. He is really going to hate me for this one when he gets older. He is such a cute piano player. He doesn't do much if any banging and plays really gently. You would think that random keys being played would be annoying, but it actually sound kind of good, of course that is coming from his mother.

It is time to move beyond the letter "A"

So although I had very good intentions of teaching Drew his alphabet, we have just now moved on to the letter "B." At this rate he should know his alphabet by middle school. Here is big boy making the "B" poster. He is concentrating very intently on coloring just so.
Since there would be no wrangling Jillian with my leg this time, we decided to make the poster during little sisters nap.
The final masterpiece. We talked about lots of "B" words (no, not that one) - Bus, Bubbles, Box, Bird, Bunny, Balloon & Baboon. Once again Drew corrected me and said it was a good boon. What a crack up.

I assume that this look of "come on, mom" will be one that I see more and more often. Probably peaking somewhere in the teenage years.

It is so fun to make a mess.

In the living room I have drawer in the entertainment center that I keep diapers and wipes in for the endless amounts poop and pee that some days seem to define my life. Little miss Jillian had the best of times emptying the entire drawer. I caught her at the beginning of her little project and could have stopped the whole thing, but like I said, it is so fun to make a mess.

I think it is fixed!

I think I will stop messing with the template for awhile. :)

What is wrong with my blog?

This is just a test. All my lovely commentary is not showing up and I can't change the template.

Ratatouille Birthday at the Flip Shop

Sunday was Madeline Wilson's 3rd birthday party at the Flip Shop in Joplin. The Flip shop is a tumbling place with trampolines and mats and tons of room to just burn off some toddler energy. Drew was a little more timid than I expected. For a kid that loves to jump and pretend he is a joey, frog, bunny, jumping bean - he didn't like the trampoline. I don't know if Andy explained it to him or not before he stepped on to the unstable ground of the trampoline at floor level, but he wouldn't jump. He like running up and down the little tumbling run. There was a soft pit at the end of the run way, I only saw him jump once, every other time he just slide down. Maybe he is not quite the daredevil I thought he was. Below if a picture of birthday girl Madeline and Drew running past each other. It is hard to get pictures of kids that are all over the place.
The only reason Drew would get on this trampoline is because he loved going down the slide.

Jilli bean enjoyed herself. There were plenty of cushions for her to pull up to. I think I should have put a bow in her hair, because in her red shirt and cherry jeans, 3 people called her a boy.

It was a Ratatouille party and the cupcakes were a crack up - there was a little rat on top.

Birthday girl and her cake.

We just put the cupcake in front of Drew and let him at it. He ate all the icing around the rat with his finger and then picked up the whole rat. It immediately turned into a handful of grey mush. He tossed the rat tail aside and starting eating the pile of rat from his hand. After some cleaning up, he ate the cake part. Yum Yum. Dad said they were yummy too.

Drew wanted to keep playing and surprisingly he didn't throw a fit when we left, maybe he was too tired. We were going to go to the Wilson's after the party, but Jillian was so tired and both kids were on the verge of meltdown from exhaustion. So we headed home. The trip was well worth it. We all had a good time, but I think Drew had the most. Drew is wearing his chef's hat upside down on the way home.

It looks like we put one of the cones on Drew that you put on dogs to keep them for pulling on stitches or messing with their ears. He even looks tired in these last two pictures.

Saturday Cycling (Tri, that is)

Saturday was supposed to be a day to catch up on my list of random things, most importantly get our taxes done and play outside - it was sunny and warm for once. Friday we busted our butts to get cleaning and grocery shopping done, so we would have all day Saturday. Of course thing never go as planned. We are running our quick errands in the morning and my cell phone rings. "Withheld, what does that mean?" Before I wait for my husband to answer my question I answer the phone. It is one of my bosses from work, "could I take call today, the call person is sick." Long pause. My mind is racing, could I - Yes, do I want to - absolutely not. Of course sucker Shannon says yes. The day is ruined. I sometimes feel it is impossible for me to say no, so if any one needs a kidney or to borrow money I don't have, or their litter box changed, I am sure that I will do it, just ask. I left the house at 1230 and didn't get home until 800. Nothing is done and I missed the outside time. So here are pictures of Drew riding his tricycle. What a big boy.

Last week Nana took Drew out to play with his bike in the garage and he made 3 cycles with the peddles. Every time he gets on it he tells me "there is a bell on my bike." Then he rings it and say "here I come." I told him that when he rang his bell it told everyone, watch out little boy on a bike, here I come.
Drew, Jillian and Andy watched the Chipmunks movie and Andy said that Drew thought it was really funny. I talked to him about it on the phone and he jabbers something and all I get is Alvin. Why is Alvin everyone's favorite? I always like Theodore and felt sorry for Simon. So Andy kept the kids up so I could see them before they went to bed. After a day like Saturday there is only one thing that would make me smile and remind me of why we do all this. It worked instantly. I asked Drew what he watched today, fishing for Chipmunks movie, but his reply instead was "basketball game." Drew outed his dad. :) No time for dishes, yeah right.
