That Hurts Toe Much!

Jillian had her first ER/ urgent care visit. Thursday morning about 20 minutes after I got home Jillian dropped a new 20 ounce bottle of squeezable strawberry jelly on her foot. He big toe nail was already turning purple by the time I reached her. Jillian loves the refrigerator and runs to it when she hears it open. She likes to sit on the bottom ledge, it the perfect height and take in and out all the salad dressing, jellies, ketchup etc. They are all in plastic bottle so I didn't really see the problem until Thursday. Poor baby was screaming and crying. I gave her some Tylenol and called the nursing line. When we were at home, she wouldn't put any weight on it. The nurse line said that I needed to bring her to an ER to release pressure from behind the nail. The nurse line also said it was probably throbbing and very painful and they recommended I elevate her foot. Easier said than done, but we did our best. So I got Drew ready and our awesome neighbor Shannon came over and got him and his car seat. Jillian and I loaded up to go to Children's Mercy. She fell asleep on the way over, not a surprise, she probably wore herself out crying. By the time we got to the urgent care her toe nail was completely black, but she was walking again and by the time we were called she was running around and playing. I was starting to feel a little silly for taking her when she was now acting fine. The took some X-rays that were negative and then the doctor put a hole in the top of Jilli's nail, right in the middle. Blood squirted out like old faithful and then they squeezed the rest out. They said putting the hole in her nail doesn't hurt it is just like cutting a nail and then they stop when blood starts to come out. But she was wrapped up in a sheet and I was laying her to hold her still, this really ticked her off. So now were are 5 days post trauma and I thought all was going to be fine, but yesterday she stubbed her toe and now the whole nail feels loose. So I think she is going to lose it. They doctor said she might. The treatment was not to save the nail, but more to relieve the pain. So we will see what happens. My poor baby girl - it was horrible to see her so upset and in pain. No I did not take any pictures I was way too panicky and rushed for that. We finally made it home at 12:15 and I had to jump in the shower because I had a job interview at 1:30 at Providence hospital. I didn't go to bed until 4:30 or 5:00 and was still completely exhausted when I woke up at 8:00. The interview was for a PRN (as needed) position, so I am not sure what all it will entail yet, but I am not obligated to work anything, just what I want.
