Growing up Roberts

Here is Drew in Daddy's boots. Those are pretty big shoes to fill. Drew loves to go in the closet and pull out Andy and my shoes and wear them around our house. If you come over and take off your shoes, they are fair game for little man to play with.

Notice that Lucy's melon is bigger than Jillian's torso. By the look on Jilli's face, I think she is well aware of this fact.

Here is little man having a temper tantrum. I can't even remember what is was about, they seem to be happening more and more often. I think he still looks cute even throwing a fit.

This has to be the craziest case of bed head I have ever seen and it is topped off with a cheesy smile.

You can't really tell what is going on in this picture, so I will fill you in. I am attempted to give Jillian a bath. Drew, Jillian, Lucy, Bailey and me all in a tiny bathroom. The only ones missing are daddy and the cat. Andy could be helping me, but instead decides to capture the moment of chaos with a picture, thanks babe. Did I mention I love that cat (she is the only one that is not attached with super glue to me).

Big girl pictures!! Jillian has been doing better this week. I think that the acid reflux medicine is working. Now I think that she is in the beginning stages of teething. Poor girl can't catch a break.

Notice her pinkie finger in this picture. She must be double jointed. I tried to do this with my hand and I can't even come close. You are trying to do it right now, aren't you?

Nice man boobs Drew :)

I could eat this kid up!

This past weekend included lots of studying, a power outage that made the house alarm beep (it took me forever to figure out what was going on), Drew giving mommy a bloody nose and a vicks vapor rub incident (2 hair washes today and it is still a greasy mess, it is like minty daper dan). I heard from my friend Jo on Sunday, who just had open heart surgery 1 1/2 weeks ago and she is at home recovering. Thank god she is doing well, she scared the crap out of me (and everyone else too, I am sure) Glad she is doing so well.
This coming week is Andy's first week of finals. Keep us in your prayers that the perpetual stress doesn't make any of us spontaneously combust. Saturday Drew is going to be 2!!!! It makes me a little sad that he is growing up so fast. I wish that I could freeze time and he would always love to play with me and give me hugs and kisses. What a big boy. I will post pics from the party next week. It is a Mickey Mouse Club House Party :) Fun Fun!

Thanksgiving at Nana and Papa's House

Friday the 16th the kids and I made our first trip from Bonner Springs to Auxvasse for the Henke Thanksgiving. It was Jillian's very first trip to Nana and Papa's, I think she had a great time. Andy stayed behind and finished his VIP (very important paper) and caught up on some studying. It was sad without him there, but it was sooo necessary.

Drew had the best time. He idealizes Papa, especially when they are outside. Papa tractor, Papa truck, Papa, Papa, Papa. It is so cute. When he is inside Nana is his play buddy. Not only are my parents the best parents in the world, I think they are they best grandparents in the world. Drew played with his cousins, Kyle, Payton and McKenzie. He was saying each of their names, or some version of it by the time they left. He had a hard time with Payton's name, but he was sure trying.

Drew had a little run in with the fireplace. You can see the bruise on his chin in one of the pictures. Poor buddy.

Big Brother / Little Sister Shirts!

Drew and Jillian got a letter from their friend Madeline Wilson in the mail with a new picture. You can see that Drew obviously misses her. He was mad at me because I wouldn't let him hold the picture while he was eating lunch. He gave her picture a big kiss afterwards.

I have the cutest videos and I am having the hardest time uploading them. I don't know if it because the files are too big or what, but I will keep trying.

Making Mommy a Cake and the Lion Family

Duh duh duh duh, snap snap. Duh duh duh duh, snap snap. The Lion Family.
Okay that was retarded. Yes, there was a lion mama, but since I am the work horse behind this little blog, I get to screen the pictures that make the final cut.

Last week I turned 29. What a day?!?! Andy was back in Joplin for trail on a double homicide he worked 2 years ago. After I left work early, so he could be there on time and then a 3 hour drive, they decided they didn't need him to testify. So we are out a tank of gas in the Mountaineer and 2 hours of pay for nothing. I honestly think they should reimburse us, but that is wishful thinking. ...... On my birthday eve day little miss Jillian screamed for about 80% of her waking hours. I almost took he to the ER, but by the time I went to work I thought I had it all figured out. I thought her reflux was bothering her. All the symptoms fit, not wanting to lay flat (I could only get her to sleep in the swing), she wasn't nursing well at all and she didn't have a fever. So I decided to just call the pediatrician when they opened. On the birthday we got a 12:30 appointment. Mom came and stayed with Drew, what an angel she is. So when it is time for us to get ready to go she was finally sleeping. I woke her at the last minute possible to see if she would eat and then we were off. We didn't get far, on the two lane highway to town there was a highway department survey that you had to stop for, now we were late. At 12:30 I called the office (which I thing is the courteous thing to do) to tell them we are running behind. I was informed that if we were more than 15 minutes late, they would reschedule our appointment. AHHHH! Are they kidding me?, do they know what kind of day I had yesterday?, do they know that it is my birthday? Jillian And I go speeding to the doctor's office (I am surprised we didn't get pulled over, because that is the kind of day we were having) and we arrive 14 minutes late. We are checking in and great I do not have our new insurance card, so the receptionist says they won't be able to see me. Is this a reality show? is there a camera hiding somewhere? Finally after a brief but stern discussion we agreed that I will pay for little miss to be seen and fax my insurance info later. So finally we are there and waiting to be seen. I don't know if it was punishment or not but we waited for a very long time. Finally the doc came in and checked her out and she had a raging ear infection. Poor baby girl :( So much for mother's intuition, because I had ruled that out because no fever, she wasn't reaching for her ear, I am still breast feeding and she rarely leaves the house. So it is 2:00 and we drop off our prescription without insurance (again) and they tell me that for the world's most common script , amoxicillian, it will be an hour. So the bean and I kill and hour and show back up at 3:00 and it is still not ready. Finally we get back home, she gets fed, I get fed and I get to bed at 4:30. I have to be up at 8:00 to go to work. 3 1/2 hours of sleep, Happy Birthday to me!! :) ..... Jillian did give me a gift that morning, she rolled over from her back to her tummy. She has been going tummy to back for a couple of weeks, but I think gravity makes that way a little easier. My mom brought me a ice cream cake and roses from her garden for my birthday too. Thanks mom!

Friday night Andy and I went to the Barristers Ball in Topeka. I tease him that it is law school prom. So I ask Andy on 3 separate occasions what is the appropriate dress for this shindig. He tells me cocktail attire. I asked him to ask people at school, because a Ball infers formal wear to me. He assures me that it is cocktail. So it is hard enough to find something that fits a fat girl and that a fat girl doesn't feel completely self- conscious in, but to do it with no time to shop is even harder. So I get this elderly-esqe attire online from JCP and it fits, so I go with it. I swear if my head was not on this picture, you would think it was a 60+ year old lady. You know how people always say to everyone, "you look great", without truly meaning it, well when I got that comment I just wanted to say "thanks I just lost 30 years".
So we finally arrive after road construction detours and getting lost and finally asking for directions and everyone is in, yes, formal wear. Floor length dresses, up-do's and fake nails and there I am the only girl in pants and a old lady jacket. We ended up leaving fairly early for multiple reasons including my uncomfortableness. It was nice to spend time with just Andy though and now my mom has a new jacket to wear to her sorority conventions. (no joke, she is going to use it, which just proves my point).

Saturday the boys made me a birthday cake. I think Drew was shocked that "No No" Daddy was letting him help pour and stir and make a mess. He had a good time and the cake turned out yummy.

Yum dry cake mix!

I have to try not to think about the raw egg in the bite of batter every time I look at this pic!!

I just wanted to see if I could upload video from my camera. So this is just a test run. Drew is saying cheese as he tries to grab the camera from me. Little sissy is in the background letting me know she is so done with the bouncy seat :)Horrible lighting I know. I will take some cute video of the kids and post it next time. I didn't want to delete this one because it took forever to upload.

Jenny Wheat Photos - I think they are Amazing.

Here is the link to the kids pictures at Wheat Photography. It was supposed to be Jillian's 3 month pictures, a few of them together for Christmas and a couple sailor pics for Nana. She gets all the kids and grand kids pictures taken in a sailor suit at 22 months (what a random age, but she is the boss). My dad was in the Navy you know. But Drew the ham seemed to steal the show. Jillian did a lot of crying during the session and I had to nurse her to calm her down and then there was the four outfit changes between the kids and Drew being an almost 2 year old. He didn't really want to sit or kneel by Jilli, he wanted to play with the props (the explanation for the amish boy pics). I was sweating by the time we were finished. So I have to admit that I was truly amazed with the pictures when I saw the slide show. I cried when I saw it, but I am their mom. I think they are the most adorable kids I have ever seen. Don't you just love Jillian's Elizabethan collar with her Christmas outfit. That thing was driving me nuts, I couldn't get it to stay down. Any way I hope that the link works, if it doesn't I will have the slide show on a disc soon and I will try to put it on later. Make sure to have your speakers on, the music makes it even better.

Pumpkin Carving and Halloween

Sorry about the 2 week lapse in posts. I am having trouble uploading the pictures using my slow computer. I have finally figured out the fastest way is to use the computer at work, you think that is what they had in mind when they hired me?

The first two pics are of our Disney foam mask. (I got them on clearance, it is amazing what you kind find roaming the internet in the middle of the night). Andy, Jilli and I walked into the living room, where Drew was, with them on and acted like nothing was going on. The look on his face was hilarious. Then he wanted to wear Mickey, and starting picking his nose or flashing a gang sign, I am not sure which. The look on Jillian's face is so funny, she has got to wonder what in the world kind of family she has become a part of.

It is time to carve our pumpkins we picked out at the pumpkin patch. Dad is in charge of cutting the tops off and Drew and I were the gutters. He wasn't so sure about sticking his hand in the guts at first, but it didn't take long. He liked putting his bare feet in the pile of pumpkin guts. What a mess we were making. It was straight to the bath after that. While cleaning out the pumpkins Drew decided to give one a taste and who am I to keep him from broadening his taste horizon. He only tried it once :) The end product was 4 jack-o-lanterns, one scary face, Winnie the Pooh, a ghost and a moon and bat. Drew Halloween vocabulary was pretty cute. He knows ghost and what it says, "BOO" and a vampire and what he says, "AH AH AH" also knows bats and of course pumpkin.

Halloween morning, time for gifts. Spoiled I know. Jillian got her "First Pumpkin" , which was filled with little stuffed Halloween noise makers just her size. She favored the rattling spider. She also got a ghost rattle. Drew got a bear dressed as a ghost that made scary noises, a pumpkin flash light and some skull and cross bones whistles. Nothing say Happy Halloween to a not quite two year old, like skull and cross bones. I think the flashlight was the big hit of the day. Drew and Nana played in the closet and bathroom with the flashlight all day and Drew was also amused by his glowing shirt. If you asked him what was on his shirt he would say "bone". What a party smants, that is smarty pants in the Roberts household.

Time to Trick or Treat. Drew was a cow, Jillian was a sweat pea pod and I was a farm girl. Andy went as broke first year law student. JK! Drew didn't really get the whole concept. He did exactly what we practiced, he said "knock knock" on the door and then "trick or treat." The problem was that the trick or treat was before the people answered their door. So when they opened the door he just stood there like a cow in the head lights. Then he would dart into their houses and up their stairs or into their living rooms and at one house he helped himself to a girl's pitch fork. So I got to see the inside of 3 houses in the neighborhood. Then he would throw a fit when I would try to take him out of the nice peoples' houses. At one house he dumped his candy bucket on their floor. We have nice neighbors because no one seemed irritated. Maybe next year he will have a better grasp on the whole Halloween thing. At one neighbors house they had a little spook house in the garage. The man was dressed up like Dracula and their was a smoke and little path to walk through with scary noises and hanging appendages. Drew seem unaffected by the "scary" stuff. The man was afraid that he would scare Drew because he was dresses as Dracula, but Drew liked him. He looked at him and said "AH AH AH", you know a vampire. What a brave little man.

Trick or Treating wore out our little pea pod.

So I have to say that I am ridiculous. I have been shopping for toys for Drew's birthday and Christmas. This weekend Andy was doing his honey do's around the house and Drew was following him and trying to steal his tools. So I pulled out one of his gifts, a little tool set, and gave it to him. He played with his tools all weekend. Every time Andy would use his screwdriver, Drew would go and get his screwdriver. Just like daddy, isn't that the cutest. It looks like Drew may be an aspiring plumber, nice crack kid!
