An Eventful Week For The Roberts Family

I think that my children are overacheivers. They both had New Year's resolutions, and they are speeding through their list already.

Jillian

  • Eat solid food - check
  • Get some teeth - check check
  • Learn to crawl - working on it

Drew

  • No more high chair - check
  • Sit on the potty - check check
  • Brush teeth twice a day - working on it

**Jillian is starting to scoot a little on her belly and on her back. It seems surreal that she is already old enough for that.

** Jillian's first tooth, botton right, broke through on Daddy's birthday January 8th and her second tooth, bottom left, broke through on January 9th. Two teeth in two days! Ouch!

**Jillian had her first taste of yummy rice cereal on New Year's day and boy was it messy. I wonder why it is their natural instinct to push it out with their tongue. Since then we have tried oatmeal cereal and this weekend we are trying peas :)

Yummmm. That's good. Why is my tongue pushing out, I guess I will have to use my hand to push it back in.
"Hey Dad, Hey Dad. Jillian (comes out Lillian a lot) eat". Drew constantly says Hey dad, hey mom. It is so cute.
She is already independent. She want to feed herself with the spoon.
Happy Girl!
Messy Girl!!
We finally tried out the Jumperoo that Santa brought Jillian for Christmas. She had a blast, but it was for a limited time only. When she was done, she sure let us know that she was ready to get out.

I put her in the jumperoo the other day while I was folding laundry and she started crying. I told Drew to go make Jillian laugh. He is really good and making her smile and laugh. So I hear him in there doing his "act" and then he comes back to me and says "Mama Lillian cry". Now everytime she start to fuss, it doesn't even have to be a full cry he says "Lillian cry again".
Daddy took some pictures of Jillian holding her own bottle. I didn't know she could hold it so well, because I always hold her when she is eating. She will hold on to it, but just for a little bit. Why hold it herself when mommy is there to do it for her. Today we bought her some sippy cups, which seams really crazy. Drew started using a sippy cup around 6 or 7 months and Jilli will 6 months January 24. Where has the time gone. Before I know it she will be saying "Hey mom, Hey mom".
Can I get a little help here Dad!!
**Tuesday was Andy's birthday and when I got home that morning I was trying to get Drew to say Happy Birthday Daddy. Then I started singing Happy Birthday really loud and exaggerated and when I was done with my production the only reaction I got from Drew was "Cake? and an emphatic MMMMMMMMM!!!!" He has already made the association of that song with cake :) It was 7:30 am, so I had to explain, no cake yet.
**Bryce, Tammy and Cooper came over and watched the kids for us, while Andy and I went to a KU basketball game. We had a great time and so did Drew and Jillian. (I think Uncle Bryce and Aunt Tammy did also).
**Bryce learned an importand lesson. Wipe front to back. Nobody wants poop in their junk. AHHH wise words!
**As for Drew's New Year's resolutions - he has pee peed on the potty 3 times this week. He likes the seat on the toilet better than the potty chair. I think the potty chair reminds him too much of time out. We read books and shoot hoops while waiting. For his birthday as an accessory to the potty chair, Drew got a Nerf basketball set. (We like to call it Hoops and Poops, at least that is the goal). Today while running errands he started crying and said "change diaper". I think it is a good sign that he is uncomfortable in wet and dirty diapers. Yeah, I think we are headed in the right direction!
