UNDERWEAR!!!!

I am sure that everyone that read this blog thinks that I am a dumbass. So I got home from work and asked Andy about my underwear dilema and he informed me of the correct spelling and I am feeling a little embarrassed. I will never forget - Underwear :)

Valentine's Jilli Bean

Jillian in her Valentine's outfit ready to go to the doctor for her 18 month check up. Last year my friend Jill had these valentine's outfits for her little ones so I snatched one up when they went on clearance - kind of a must for anything from Gymboree.

A headless Nana in the background was there to help us out this week. For those of you who don't know I have another job now. I work every other weekend 7a - 7p Saturday and Sunday. It is not so bad except for when I get off Sunday at 7:00 pm I have to come home visit the kids, take a shower and then go to my regular job at 10:00 pm. So Monday when I get home I am exhausted and mom was there to let me sleep the day away (at least until Jilli's appointment).

A perfect picture of Jillian's mullet. Don't cry Jilli, you won't have a mullet forever.
Jilli's 18 month appointment went well - the doctor said that she is perfect (this I already knew). Nana stayed home with Drew- played Candy Land, popped popcorn and watched Louis (Meet the Robinsons). So Jillian had her dad and me to herself. I can't remember a time it was just the three of us. She kept looking over at Drew's empty car seat with a confused look on her face. I think she enjoyed the attention at the doctor's office.

Here are her 18 month stats:
  • Weight - 24.2 lbs - 48th percentile
  • Height - 32.25 inches - 67th percentile

She had gained a little over a pound since her 15 month appointment and grown 2.5 inches. I knew she had a growth spurt - we had to buy some new clothes and new shoes. I am sure that there is some technical error in her height measurements because that seem like a lot to grow in just 3 months, but either way it is definitely apparent that she is getting taller and leaner everyday.

Sick Babies

I got a 3:00 am call from Andy on Friday morning and that can only mean one thing - sick kid. Jillian had vomited. I was dreaded the remainder of the day - she has never had the vomiting flu before. She was a little puny Friday, but no more puking. She had a runny nose, sneezy, cough kind of thing. So we postponed our Wonderscope plans. I had to work the weekend so daddy was in charge of caring for my puny girl. She vomited again and had a sick tummy from all the drainage. A very sick bean Monday morning.
By Tuesday she was on the mend. Drew sounded a little stuffy and then came the fever. Tuesday afternoon it was up to 102.9 and didn't break until early the next morning. Andy and I have both been fighting off the punies too. Let's hope everyone feel well for a weekend of family fun.

Underware or Under ware???

So I have blogging a lot about Drew's big boy underware and everytime the spell check flags it. It says that it should be two words and I don't buy it. I am sure that my husband would know the answer, but I don't think he would appreciate a 5:00 am call for that kind of question. It is driving me coconuts - so even if it is wrong I am going to keep it as one word. Hope this doesn't annoy anyone.

Potty Training - Yes We Can!

So like I have mentioned before, I feel like we have been potty training FOREVER! We are finally on the road of progress. We were taking hourly trips to the potty and he would pee every time, but most times his pull up was wet too. So we would put on a dry one - can anyone say $cha-ching$ for Wal-mart. So I figured out he did so much better with nothing on. This came with never ending penis talk and penis touching. Sometimes I just have to tell him to give it a rest. Typical male I guess.
So after multiple days of nakedness (hence the lack of pics), we moved on to big boy underware. He had a few accidents but much better than with pull-ups. We save the pull ups for outings and naps. Then all of a sudden in the past few days he has made huge steps. He as been holding it (his bladder not his penis) for 3-4 hours at a time. Still some difficulty with pooping on the potty - some days he will and others he won't. But I will take what I can get. I have been pretty amazed by him the past couple of days.
Upside down visor, Buzz pajama shirt and big boy underware - I am sure he will love these pictures when he is older.
So when we go to the YMCA lately Drew has been going into the big kids room and he loves it. They are supposed to be potty trained before going in there. So I use a little peer pressure, guilt, call it what you like - I tell him that all the kids in the big kid room wear underware and use the potty and since I have put my new tactic in place he has been doing better and better. I am sure this methodology is not going to make it in any psychologist manual on potty training - but whatever works is the point we are at right now! Yeah Drew!!!!

Added Features

I have added a few things to the blog for those who visit quite often and are disappointed with my lack of blogging. So maybe they will learn something with this day in history, daily word and daily quote. I also tried to add a counter to see how many visit this blog, but I am not having very good luck.

Sorry for the 16 day lapse in post. I haven't been taking many pictures because Drew goes around with no diaper, pull up or underware all the time (definitely not appropriate for a public forum). Plus we haven't been doing anything exciting for the past couple of weeks and we have been battling a bug.
Lots of fun planned for this weekend so check back early next week for pictures.

Mugshots

So I took the kids mug shots to put in their child identity kits. I told Drew to say cheese.
This the one I used for him. It only took two shots to get his.
Now time for the bean. I am trying to get her to stand still and look at me. This turns out to be a nearly impossible feat.
Where are you going?
I had to get Andy to help me. Jillian looks like she is giving her dad a good Italian what for.
This is the one that I used even if her mouth is a little guppyish.
Cutie tootie!
Andy was not amused with me insisting on this at this moment or with an uncooperative little girl.
So trying to get her to look at me, Andy asked Jillian "where's mama." This was the runner up picture. These are just 7 of the 20 plus shots it took to get her mugshot.
Like her retro Strawberry shortcake shirt? A must have I thought. I had a Strawberry shortcake room when I was little.

Washburn

Friday we made a family trip to Topeka for this semester's books. This picture is to show what a big girl my Jilli bean is. It is the best when they hold tight to your fingers. She even walked down 3 steps while holding on to my hand. It sounds like nothing, but she always goes down stairs on her tummy and she walked down these.
Drew leaving a nice face print on the glass while looking out at the school.
Drew, Andy and Jillian in front of the law school building.
A view of the place Andy has spent much of the last year and a half.
You would have had to seen WALL-E to appreciate the following Drew quote. I told him we were going home and he said "I don't want to go home, I want to live." (with the same inflection as the captain) He is such a little crack up.
