Drew's first ride in his big boy car seat. We were heading to the Nicholsons' for a BBQ. Before we even got to eat, the tornado sirens went off. Everyone headed to their basement, and I made Andy run home to put the animals in our basement. Don't worry they only live 1 minute from our house, he had plenty of time. A tornado touched down less than 5 miles from our house and stayed on the ground for 15 minutes. I guess that is what I get for moving to Kansas.
We stayed at the BBQ until after 11:00. I think that is the latest Jillian has ever stayed up. She was practically throwing her self into the crib. After Drew's 30 minute questioning about tornadoes we put him to bed. Andy read him a book while I got ready for bed and within 2 minutes both were out. Even with a late night Jilli was up at 6:30, yeah!
Some of Drew questions were predictable like, where do they come from and why are tornadoes dangerous? But then they became a little more tangent, why did coach Lisa call them tornadoes? Can tornadoes talk? (they did on Elmo) Which led to conversations about pretend and real. Then today I had to demonstrate to him how I would protect him during a tornado by hovering over him. He also told Nana on the phone that his dad knew all about tornadoes and then he told her they were strong and dangerous, came down from the clouds when cold air and hot air come together. I wonder how long this tornado talk will last.
